It is one year since we started our Hunger Strike for The Rohingya People Of Burma

Today is exactly 1-year since we started our Hunger Strike in solidarity with the Rohingya People of Burma, affected by the ethnic cleansing operation of Burmese Army under the leadership of Nobel Peace Prize Winner Aung San Suu Kyi!

We say Thank You to all who showed their supports to us! It is working, as the perpetrators have been suffering major defeats in major forums and global diplomacy.

Join us and show support for the most prosecuted minority of the world. For details on how to participate visit https://www.facebook.com/StopBurningMyChild/ or https://jubaerarif.blogspot.com/2018/04/lets-make-it-worlds-largest-hunger.html.

What is the current situation?

Bangladesh continued to teach humanity to the world by extending its ongoing support for the Rohingya people of Burma. Bangladesh is very keen and the Bangladeshi government has taken some notable steps to expedite the Rohingya return to their own land in Burma. However, the Rohingyas still cannot return as the environment in Burma is deemed NOT safe to do so by the international organizations including the UN. Burmese authorities started fresh violence in the Rakhine and surrounding states in order to create an environment of fear. They deliberately started this fresh violence, at this very time, as they have been losing grounds in the international stages. This demands strong response from the international communities. Unfortunately, we are yet to see much response against the fresh violence, instead, we have noticed influx of Rohingyas to Bangladesh from different countries where these desperate souls tried to flee.

In the meantime, Burmese military still does not want to relinquish its strong influence that it has on the current Burmese government. That leaves Burma literally under a military rule and democracy remains a myth. The country runs based on a power-sharing agreement between the army and the so called “elected” government. Any ongoing violence in the Rakhine state is only benefiting the army to validate its position inside the government.

Most recently, Burmese leader Aung San Suu Kyi called for international investment in the state of Rakhine at a Rakhine State Investment Fair held in February. The plan is to have international businesses in the Rakhine state, on the lands where the Rohingyas used to live and block the return of the Rohingyas. I am very sure there will be global calls to boycott those businesses interested in helping Suu Kyi with her brutal agenda.

Why should the global community care?

Because of the devil actions of few led by Nobel Peace Prize Winner Aung San Suu Kyi, there are now 1.2 million Rohingya People of Burma living as Refugees in Bangladesh. And this is costing global economy approximately $434 million dollar in an ongoing basis. Imagine that money was there for your local community, for better schooling and for better philanthropic opportunities. Your governments, wherever you are in the world, are forced to take this financial burden because of the criminal activities of Burmese army who killed thousands of innocent Rohingya people.

But most importantly, humanity should always win over cruelty. Imagine your child was burned to death in front of you and you were forced to see that like Rohingya woman Hosni Ara. Imagine you had no food or shelter for days while fleeing the brutality of the Burmese army like Rohingya man Badsha Mia. Don't even have words to express their pains.

Hope you will care, hope you will support us and hope you will join us. We are determined, we will not return home until we win and ensure justice for the Rohingya People of Burma.

I know, I and 1200 others from around the world did not make a huge difference yet to the Rohingyas’ life with our hunger strike, but deep in my heart of heart I know, we dared to stand up against the bullies. I hope you will too.
