Hope you had a great start in
2020 and back to work in full swing.
As you have entered in a new
decade, have you wondered what is that BIGGEST
social/cultural/structural/operational change that your business will encounter
in this new decade? My prediction is, "Demise of the ongoing WOKE
culture in any organisation".
This prediction comes with a
guarantee based on our ongoing research done since 2010 at Daily Positive (D+),
a news website to publish positive news on each country of the world.
If the last decade has seen the
rise of the WOKE culture, next decade is the time for it to go south. As per
the product life cycle, wokeness was in the growth phase and has reached the
maturity phase and naturally from here on it can only decline.
I write this on the eve of 92nd
Academy Awards or Oscars 2020, which attracted the lowest TV viewers of all
time. If Hollywood, the biggest WOKED brand in the world, suffering from such a
disaster, I believe your business needs to take a look at this issue seriously
and act on it.
As, in the last decade,
organisations were often forced to blend in with the woke culture, they hired
people with designations, such as, diversity and inclusion officer or managers,
among many others. The average salaries of these individuals are around
95K/person in Australia.
Now time has come for you to ask
yourself, what was my HR doing? Since when my HR policies allowed
discrimination of any sort? Why we needed these additional woked people despite
having a functional HR team? What have we gained from these extra people? Most
importantly, probably the scariest question that you need to ask yourself, what
am I going to gain from these woked people in next 5 years or 10 years?
Let me help you with the answer
to the last question. These woke force will have nothing new to offer you
moving forward. But to continue to survive, they will become super aggressive
and will come up with random and radical ideas. In turn, those ideas will deter
you from future innovation in the company. Your organisation will become a
policing institute where even the slightest of missteps will be dealt with the
mighty forces. The productivity of your team can only go downhill in that
environment. Most importantly many of your clients will gradually boycott your
business and they will do it with determination. They will never be as vocal as
the woke force but when they decide to boycott, it will hurt you the most as
you will not see that coming.
You need to start focusing on
your products and services and re-connect with your clients. You need to get
rid of the woke force to reduce the financial burden and avoid an irremediable
disaster that is waiting to happen. Remember, as you do not like others
lecturing you on what to do, what to think, same is true with your clients and
consumers.
Now the obvious question, how do
you know whether you have this problem in your organisation? Easy! After
