Daily Positive (D+) Turned 10 – Ten Years of Positivity

  • D+ has gone from an Idea to a vision to a reality
  • D+ started the journey with my scholarship money and achieved self sufficiency
  • D+ has transformed from a simple website to a global community of positivity

The year 2020 marked the 10th birthday of Daily Positive (D+) and our parent company, Arif Systems. We are proud to have served global communities from every country of the world hungry for positive news.

D+ started its official journey on 25 November 2010. Since then D+ worked with millions of volunteers, students, writers, researchers, professionals and people who are passionate about spreading positive news from around the world.

The journey began in 2010 at a conference in Melbourne

I, Dr. Arif Jubaer, the founder of D+, initially supported D+ with money saved from my scholarships while I was a student completing my Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) at The University of Melbourne. The aim was to give back a sense of opportunity, friendship and positive cross-cultural learning throughout the global community.

Ten years, many thousands of news, and millions of readers later, D+ is more determined than ever to bring you the very best of the world. In this past 10 years, D+ never had a day without at least a positive news, from at least a country, even at a time when the world was going through financial turmoils, natural disasters, violence or the current global pandemic of COVID-19.

Without the dedicated supports and encouragements of our volunteers from each country of the world, amazing staffs and our readers, none of this would have ever been possible. Thus, I say a big Thank You to all who have been part of this amazing journey.

It has been an amazing 10 years for D+ and to date we have some notable and positive achievements to talk about.

  1. First, we have created the world’s largest positive news consumer communities and repository of different types of positive news from around the world despite our basic social media presence and without having a flashy website.
  2. Helped generate demand for positive news through our volunteer networks as more and more people from all parts of the world are now demanding for more positive news from their local news sources.
  3. D+ gave people a positive and effective voice to fight against racism. For example, international students at different global universities are using D+ news sources to stand up against any racisms hurled towards them. It has been a pioneering tool for these students’ mental health.
  4. We presented the world an index for the global citizens to see where their countries are heading in terms of positivity. Annual D+ World’s Most Positive Countries Index recognises the countries with the most positive initiatives and actions.

  5. D+ helped develop connections between communities and improved productivity of the individuals with the help of its positive news collection. For instance, D+ has worked with many global CEOs while they were travelling to a new destination country to create a business opportunity. Prior to the visit these CEOs collected necessary positive information regarding those destination countries from D+ and used them in their speeches and presentations. And that significantly contributed to successful business deals.

Apart from the above D+ has been effectively involved in varieties of community activities. Some of the notable initiatives are:

  • BringBackOurGirls – joined and extended this campaign to help rescue 276 Nigerian school girls who were kidnapped by the terrorists in April 2014. We still work with the local press in Nigeria in search of all of these girls.
    Our BringBackOurGirls activities
  • StopBurningMyChild – a campaign designed by D+ that engages global citizens in a platform to raise a collective voice against violence. So far, our creative and positive campaigns helped stop a major violent conflict in Bangladesh in 2015. Currently we are focusing on stopping the genocide of the Most Persecuted Minority in the World, the Rohingya people of Burma.

  • D+ Carnival – Every year in March, the D+ Carnival promotes and shares focused positive news and stories from a specific location of the world through community gatherings.

  • D+ Newsletter – Our rich positive news collections complied in monthly newsletter contributed greatly to the literacy collection of libraries from around the world as our newsletters are now available in numerous libraries.

Here’s to the Next 10 Years

Looking forward we aim to create a magical next 10 years of positivity. We will continue and increase community engagements through our positive news collections to help establish global peace. Our research team will accelerate their work to find key insights about news in general and future of the news industry. Finally, D+ will become a multi-channel news broadcaster and will share its news via different channels in addition to our current wiki-based website.

In Conclusion

In all these years, one of our superpowers was we could very easily walk past the failures and disappointments and could keep moving forward with our positive mission while so many out there doubted it all and gave us only 2 years of spike in our excitement. Little they knew, we are in a mission to bring a solid change in the world over a long period of time. We have achieved all of the above while maintaining a very low profile, while having a plain text-based website or reaching out to people directly without the short-lived influence on social media.

Thank you to everyone, especially to all of our volunteers from around the world, who helped us make this community of positive news so very special.

We also remember all of our volunteers whom we lost in the last 10 years and we very dearly remember our volunteer Ishrat Akhond from Bangladesh who was killed in a terrorist attack in 2015.

Story of Ishrat

Thank you to all and let’s share a positive news today and that can change the world.
